Problem

30-40% of adults and 65-80% of teens in the U.S. are impacted by some form of sleep deficiency: sleep disorders, lack of sleep, poor sleep quality, and inconsistent timing of sleep. Lack of information in sleep deficiency and effects of health disparities in populations with socio-ecological disadvantage.

Opportunity

Informed and optimal application of wearable devices, mHealth, predictive analytics and dynamic imaging can lead us to better understand human sleep physiology and modify lifestyle factors and behavior to improve sleep health.

Long-Term Vision

Position USC as a leader in research approaches that deploy local resources, novel ideas and cutting-edge technological tools to solve important medical and societally relevant problems related to sleep health.
